Roofing Tips: What can you do if your roof is damaged by storms?
If you notice or suspect that your roof is damaged, you should first contact your homeowners insurance company. Contact them and give them the information. The next steps will depend on where you live and which insurance company you have. After speaking with your insurance company, there are two possible scenarios. 1. An adjuster is sent by your insurance company to inspect your roof in case of storm damage An adjuster is called by an insurance company to inspect the damage. After they have completed their roof inspection, they will approve your claim or inform you that there is no storm damage to your roof. Once your claim has been approved, it is time to begin looking for a roofing contractor who is familiar with handling insurance claims. However, if your claim doesn't get approved, that doesn't mean you have exhausted all your options. There are many ways to double- or triple-check your roof for damage from storms. 2. Local roofing contractors will inspect your roof for damage from storms. A second scenario is when your insurance company advises you to call a local roofing contractor for a storm damage inspection. They will take photos of any damage they find and send them to your insurance company. If there are signs of storm damage on the photos, the insurance company will send an adjuster out to inspect the area. You won't be able to do this unless you contact your homeowner's insurer. No matter what category you fall into, you must call your insurance company immediately if storm damage is suspected to your roof.Call Greg Lilly Roofing & Restoration if you need help in repairing, replacing, maintaining, or inspecting your roof.
